Hmmmm...

Ornithologist Jerome Jackson's opinions about the Ivory-billed Woodpecker evidence -- recently presented in the American Ornithologists' Union's The Auk -- now appear in a FoxNews.com's Junk Science column titled "Woodpecker Racket?"

The column also raises questions about The Nature Conservancy, a leading member of the Big Woods Conservation Partnership, and about the journal Science, "the same journal that rushed to publication last year’s faked South Korean stem cell studies, and a faked 1997 Tulane University study on environmental chemicals."

Interesting scrutiny from folks outside of the birding world and in the mainstream media. I think it's to this community's advantage to have the current available information poked and prodded.

While waiting to hear about the current search's results, I'll reread parts of Tim Gallagher's tale about the grail bird and recall the exquisite sound of kent calls filling the auditorium in Harlingen.
