"Jazz Aviary" in L.A. area this and next weekend
Susan Krebs, the self-described Jazz Gardener, credits dawn choruses with sparking her current musical offering, Jazz Aviary. She'll combine jazz music with poetry and birdsong on March 24 and 31 and April 1 in Silver Lake.
The program includes performances of "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" and Lennon-McCartney's "Blackbird"; poetry by Thoreau and Shelley; random ornithological facts; and recordings of birds' songs and calls. It's earned various kudos, including this praise:

"I've enjoyed many of Susan's theatrical, film and television performances over the years. But Susan really out-does even herself in Jazz Aviary. It's a delightfully surprising and highly entertaining show - and a neatly crafted little gem." Howard Goodwin, Paramount Pictures Music Department
