my old roomie lived in the Peten for Peace Corps a couple of years ago and ran tours in Central America after that, so I've emailed her for tips. I'll send you what I get from her. Yays for Guatamalan work trips!!! Estoy muy celosita.

Remember you're going on rainy season, so make sure to take some Off! with you. Also, you'll probably need to buy some "quetzales" (local currency) before you leave L.A., enough to give you time to get to an ATM once there. Without making any assumptions, make sure to make an electronic copy (scan) of your first/last pages of your passport and your ticket. Good luck, enjoy Guate and have fun!
