Plaudits for NWR volunteers and employees
Too often, good deeds go unrecognized. Today, the good deeds of three men and a group of volunteers will be recognized during the 71st North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference in Columbus, Ohio.
During the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation/U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Director's reception, officials will award the four 2006 National Wildlife Refuge System Awards.
The recipients are:
Paul Kroegel Refuge Manager of the Year - Glenn Carowan, Chesapeake Marshlands NWR Complex in Maryland and Virigina
Refuge System Employee of the Year - John Schomaker, Division of Conservation Planning, Great Lakes-Big Rivers Region in Minnesota
Volunteer of the Year - Tim Anderson, Seal Beach NWR in California
Friends Group of the Year - Friends of Great Swamp NWR in New Jersey
