Made a difference

In its November issue, Smithsonian celebrated its 35th anniversary by honoring 35 scientists, artists and scholars. Within the list are Dan Janzen, a butterfly expert, and Mark Plotkin, an ethnobotanist working toward rainforest conservation. Their work might interest birders, which includes many butterfliers and conservationists within the group.
